Sandy Beach

Its great waves have made Sandy beach a hot-spot for those who love to body surf and sunbathe. Some of the beaches features include easy access to Kalanianaole Highway, full bathrooms and food concessions. The grassy area attracts many kite flyers who fill the sky with colorful kites on the weekends. However, the beach can be dangerous due to its strong rip currents and shallow shore breaks.

Halona Beach Cove

Also known as the "The Peering Place", this is a natural beach is situated to the right of the Halona Blowhole. Although this beach is great for swimming when the waters are calm, there are no lifeguards and no facilities so visitors should take caution.

Kalama Beach

Kalama Beach can be found on Kailua Bay between Lanikai and Kailua Beach Park. Although the beach consists of calm waters, there are plenty of waves which make this beach suitable for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding. Amenities include restroom facilities, showers, picnic areas and grassy sites. It should be noted that there are no lifeguards at this location.

Oahu's North Shore boasts 15-foot to 20-foot waves during the winter, sandy beaches and great swimming and snorkeling in the summer. Many of the beaches along this shore are monitored by lifeguards, to ensure the safety of visitors. Some of the beaches of the North Shore inlcude Sunset Beach Park near Haleiwa, Ehikai Beach Park, KeWa'ena Beach, Waimea Bay Beach Park and Ali'i Beach Park.

Lanikai Beach

The waters of the Kanikai Beach are exceptionally blue and clear, providing excellent opportunities for swimming and snorkeling. Access is only available by public access walkways, respectively lining local resident’s property. There are no lifeguards on duty and no facilities.

Makapuu Beach Park

Makapu'u Beach Park is situated below Makapu'u Point. Amenities include washrooms, showers, a picnic area and lifeguards on duty. This beach has large waves, sometimes making swimming dangerous. Though, it is a good beach for body surfing.

Kuhio Beach Honolulu

Waikiki Beach Honolulu
