    Oahu's North Shore

    Oahu's North Shore boasts 15-foot to 20-foot waves during the winter, sandy beaches and great swimming and snorkeling in the summer. Many of the beaches along this shore are monitored by lifeguards, to ensure the safety of visitors. Some of the beaches of the North Shore inlcude Sunset Beach Park near Haleiwa, Ehikai Beach Park, KeWa'ena Beach, Waimea Bay Beach Park and Ali'i Beach Park.

    Historical Downtown Honolulu
    Historical Downtown Honolulu is the central point of the city, boasting both modern and historic buildings and complexes, many of which are listed on the National Historic Landmarks. The downtown core can be found bounded by Nuʻuanu Stream to the west, Ward Avenue to the east, Vineyard Boulevard to the north, and Honolulu Harbor to the south. This area can be further subdivided into four neighborhoods including the Capitol District, Central Business District, Chinatown and the waterfront.

    Waikiki

    Best known for its beaches, Waikiki is a 0.7-mile man-made peninsula encompassing 450 acres. At the beginning of the 20th Century, this neighborhood was mainly comprised of swampland, fishponds, and duck ponds. Today, Waikiki houses some of the top hotels, restaurants, shopping and beaches on the island.

    Chinatown

    Honolulu's historic Chinatown is located immediately downtown. The fifteen block area contains vast variety, rich in both history and culture. It is home to many art galleries, theaters, and specialty shops, such as Chinese herbal medicine shops. Many specialty restaurants, which serve delicious yet inexpensive food, attract large lunchtime crowds. Both guided walking tours and self-guided walking tours are available.
